Our Story
One of the oldest buildings in the city of Palm Springs, The Willows is a Class 1 historical structure. Since its founding in the 1920s, it has welcomed stars of stage and screen, politicians and business leaders – all in search of a desert escape just a few hours from Hollywood.
Originally built as two homes for Los Angeles businessmen William Mead and Roland Bishop, the buildings were designed in the style of Mediterranean villas to complement the desert setting.
Completed in 1925, the houses were later owned by lawyer Samuel Untermyer and actor Marion Davies, before becoming unified as The Willows after a restoration in the 1990s. The renovation restored many of its original features, including mahogany beams and doors, sandstone fireplaces, antique tiles, stone floors, and wrought-iron detailing. Ever since, The Willows has served as a base for guests to explore Palm Springs, and as a space to unwind and experience the Golden Age of Hollywood.
