Worth a trip

5 of 5 starsReviewed February 11, 2014

“This was my second visit to the Willows, and I would return in a heartbeat. The setting is serene, the location central and each room has its own charming personality. I love sitting on the balcony just off the living room, sipping morning coffee and seeing the sun shining on the mountains. The evening wine gathering is a nice way to meet fellow guests.”

A beautiful get-away steps from Highway 111 in Palm Springs!

“We enjoyed a weekend at the Willows in December for a family gathering. Although Palm Springs is only a 2 hour drive for us, we have enjoyed spring break in the desert for over 20 years…yet we had no idea the Willows existed. What a charming and peaceful bed and breakfast. The location is perfect allowing you to walk to the main strip of Palm Springs, but when you are back at the Willows you feel as if you are in a remote location. The rooms and décor of the establishment are equally tasteful. We enjoyed the pool, spa and grounds. My husband hiked the hills behind the property and played a round of golf in Palm Springs. The food and service were excellent and of course you cannot beat the weather in Palm Springs during the winter. We highly recommend this for any get-away. Because our family booked nearly all the rooms, I can honestly say, there isn’t a bad room in the place!”

The Very Best

“Everything about the Willows with it’s colorful history is perfect. The staff – warm, helpful and friendly – and steady, the same dear faces greet me each year – even remembering I like syrup with my bacon. The included breakfast is a gourmet delight with tables set to view the waterfall. Evening wines and appetizers are tasty and fun – and chance to meet interesting guests. Rooms are all different, all beautiful – I’ve stayed in most and have a hard time deciding my favorite. The living room with the grand piano and books to read is comfy and welcoming. And the sunny porch off the living room is ideal for the morning paper. The warm pool is relaxing. Willows is next to art museum and trail heads, great location. When I arrive the Willows I feel I’m returning to my second home. Gordy, Harmony, Joan and all the staff are the best. I love the place.”

Relaxing and Lovely

“The Willows is outstanding, both for ambiance and service. We had the Einstein Room which is spacious and has a wonderful patio we enjoyed. It is walking distance from Palm Canyon which we liked. We had some wine and snacks, then walked to Johnny Costa’s for dinner which was delicious. Enjoyed a leisurely breakfast, then unfortunately had to check out. Went to Palm Canyon and the Living Desert which were both very worthwhile. Especially nice in spring with the water running.” –Southern California, 3/18/2011 (read more)

Like being transported back in time…

“The ambience and beauty of the inn is hard to convey adequately – guests are wonderfully transported back to the 30s and 40s with elegant period furnishings, and yet all of the most modern conveniences including Wi-Fi throughout. … The innkeepers attend to your every wish. I mentioned how much I enjoyed the fragrance of the jasmine and that evening I found freshly picked jasmine by my bedside.” –Del Mar, CA (read more)

What an absolutely splendid inn

“The Inn is next door to the Palm Springs  Art Museum (well worth a visit) and a few short blocks from the town’s main strip and restaurant area, yet the peace, quiet, seclusion and sense of exclusivity you feel sets it miles apart from what lies outside this gated estate. Each morning you are treated to a unique and gourmet breakfast, created by their exceptionally talented chef and served on fine china and silver settings; while seated in a room overlooking a running 50 foot waterfall. Each evening at 5:30 p.m. you get to experience a varied and superb array of hors d’oeuvres along with select wines and drinks out on the large patio.” –Larchmont, NY (read more)

Absolute finest in Palm Springs

“Don’t miss their happy hour with good wines and freshly prepared hors d’oevres, which were excellent and included in the price as well as an outstanding breakfast with linens and proper silver service. Across the street there is an old, but very established and well kept French restaurant with terrific and well prepared cuisine (bit pricey, but worth it) and many other lesser restaurants within blocks and an easy walk. … Should we ever have a reason to be in the area again, we would make it a point to stay again in this wonderful small hotel.” –Santa Barbara, CA (read more)

Worth the splurge

“There is no better or more beautiful location in all of Palm Springs, and the inn and grounds are just lovely. The rooms are wonderful, the service impeccable, and even though it’s a bit on the pricey side, it is an excellent value when you consider all that is included: besides the gorgeous and historically authentic accommodations, you get a three-course gourmet breakfast, wine and hors d’oeuvres in the evening, complimentary snacks and cold drinks in your room, and much more. The views from the O’Donnell House are spectacular, and we loved that we could access the Lykken, Museum and Skyline hiking trails directly from the property. We also appreciated not having to drive anywhere – everything we wanted, including the Desert Museum, the Thursday night street market, fantastic restaurants and challenging hiking trails were all within walking distance. We loved everything about our stay at this very special inn, and we can’t wait to return.” –Bishop, CA (read more)

Splendid! The memories are worth the price

“This place is really outstanding. It’s just a few blocks off the main strip but rises up on a ridge above it. No noise or anything; it feels secluded. The staff is great. Each morning you have breakfast by a waterfall. There are beautiful flowers everywhere, dripping from every wall and rock. In the evenings you enjoy some appetizers and wines before heading out to the nightlife. The rooms are large, unique and perfectly clean. … Compared to many Palm Springs hotels, which are down amongst the dingy streets, this one really stood out as a paradise.” –Seattle, WA (read more)

Great inn to stay

“The staff, one cannot say enough of, so friendly and respectful of one’s privacy. To top off the stay the three to four course breakfast in the lovely dining room with a painted ceiling and waterfall just right outside your table is wonderful. One can take their time to eat. I was never rushed, all and all the stay was a dream. I love this beautiful inn so much I go back year after year.” –Arizona (read more)

A secret hideaway

“You are given the keys to your own private villa with security gates to ensure the utmost repose. You can wander along the same paths of the gardens as Albert Einstein, Marion Davies, Clark Gable and Carole Lombard’s feet once walked. Dine with a gourmet three course breakfast each morning served by excellent and unobtrusive staff with antique silver and china, table linens and fresh orchids while enjoying the sound of songbirds with the peaceful and tranquil sound of soothing water from a 50 foot waterfall as the backdrop. Enjoy a room with unique mountain, garden and waterfall vistas with exquisite decor of antique furniture, live palms, luxurious bed linens, pillows, bath linens and bath products, specialty wrapped treats for a snack, a refrigerator with complimentary beverages, and the glow of a fireplace to stay off a chilly desert evening. The staff is exceptional, most accommodating and eager to promptly meet your every need or request.” –South California (read more)
